What is National Funeral Planning Awareness Week?
Running from 23 February to 2 March, National Funeral Planning Awareness Week is all about encouraging people throughout the UK to consider their funeral wishes and, importantly, to have meaningful conversations with loved ones about them.
It might seem like a daunting subject to bring into a conversation, or maybe you’d just rather think about another time, but we see the comfort and peace of mind that talking about funeral wishes can bring – not just for our plan holders, but for family and friends too.
When the time comes to arrange a funeral, if those left behind have a clear understanding of their loved one’s wishes, they don’t have to question whether they’re doing the right thing.
So, do it for yourself, but most importantly, do it for them.
How to get started
Just starting the conversation might seem difficult, but we’ve created a guide to give you the confidence and tools you need to discuss funeral wishes with friends and family. Read our tips for having an open and meaningful conversation about funeral wishes here.
Some people might prefer to reflect on their wishes before talking about them with their loved ones. While there are no rules when it comes to funeral planning, there are some key elements to consider. Read our blog on what to consider when having your funeral here.
We’ve also created a simple template that you can use to document your funeral wishes. Download it here! And don’t forget to share a copy with your loved ones!
