Staff at Golden Charter's head office in Canniesburn finished their 2017 fundraising by taking part in numerous festive themed activities such as Christmas Jumper Day, a winter bake sale and a raffle. These proceeds concluded the employees’ donation total for the year at an impressive £5,459.
The funds raised from the Christmas activities will go to Maggie's, who offer free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer, and their families and friends, in their centres around the country. In total, staff collected more than £800 for the charity by also taking part in a dress down day and bake sale earlier in the year.
Dress down days are held monthly in the company's head office and during 2017 have raised funds for various other charities including Prostate Cancer UK, Erskine Hospital, Bobath Scotland, Stroke Association Scotland and the SSPCA.
Large sums have also been raised for the company's corporate charity partners, The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland. Since August, the company itself has donated £12,800 as part of their promotion to donate £25 for every funeral plan sold. Staff have also taken part in numerous events and activities to raise funds for the charities. In the days leading up to Armistice Day, staff hosted a fundraising fair and raffle raising £616, with the company matching the donation to take the total to £1,200.
Staff also entered Poppyscotland’s annual Corporate Raid for the second consecutive year, braving the freezing November temperatures in Glasgow city centre to offer poppies to the public for a donation total of £560.
