Bob Hoskins became synonymous with the phrase 'It's good to talk' after appearing in the iconic British Telecom ad campaign in 1994. It's been over twenty years since the advert was first shown but the famous tagline couldn't be more apt.
Although death is the only experience we are all certain to experience at some point in our lives, we rarely talk about it. But Dying Matters aims to change that by encouraging people to 'Talk, Plan, Live' as part of 'Dying Matters Awareness Week' which starts on Monday 18th May.
Throughout the week, Dying Matters will be encouraging members of the public to take five simple steps to make their end of life experience better, both for them and for their loved ones.
These are:
- Write your will
- Record your funeral wishes
- Plan your future care and support
- Consider registering as an organ donor
- Tell your loved ones your wishes
Talking more openly about dying and planning ahead is in everyone's interests as it can help to ensure that our last wishes are met and make it easier on our loved ones.
