Let’s talk about something we often avoid, death…
Have you thought about what happens to your loved ones when you die? Your children, your pets, or even that house plant no one seems to care for except you? Do you have a Will in place? Most people will answer yes to all these questions. But have you thought about your funeral?
If the answer is no, keep reading…
What is National Funeral Planning Awareness Week?
We’ve created National Funeral Planning Awareness Week to encourage people throughout the UK to reflect on their funeral wishes and take the important step of having a conversation with loved ones about them.
We understand that bringing funerals into the conversation can be challenging and, quite honestly, something you’d rather put off for another day. But we see the comfort and reassurance that planning a funeral can bring—not just to our plan holders, but to the family and friends they leave behind.
No matter the circumstances surrounding the loss of a family member or friend, having a clear understanding of their funeral wishes helps to alleviate the stress of making funeral arrangements at an emotionally challenging time. It allows those left behind to focus on honouring their memory rather than worrying about whether they’re getting it “right”.
So, do it for yourself, but most importantly, do it for them
It could be as simple as considering whether you’d like a burial or a cremation, and the kind of funeral service you’d like (if any). Many people choose to go a step further and consider their choice of music, cars, flowers and even dress code. When it comes to funeral planning, there are no rules.
We’ve created a simple funeral wishes template to help get you started. Download it here – and don’t forget to share a copy with your loved ones.
Have you considered how a pre-paid funeral plan could benefit you and your family?
At Golden Charter, we offer a range of funeral plans that can be personalised to meet your individual needs. With this in place, when the time comes all your family needs to do is make one call to the funeral director on your plan and they’ll take care of the rest.
Funeral plans can help to provide financial peace of mind for you and your loved ones, with the funeral director’s service fees included in the plan. Our plans also include an allowance towards third party costs, such as burial or cremation fees - and the fee for the officiant.
